43009 Hinksey 28 April 1999

43009 passes Hinksey Yard on 28 April 1999 with the 1D62 18:02 Paddington to Oxford First Great Western service. It's a pity that this stylish Great Western Trains livery only lasted for a few years. Unveiled in 1996, the colour scheme suited the HSTs very well, despite the large area of white that must have been difficult to keep clean. By the time that this picture was taken, the company had been bought out by Great Western Holdings, and soon the fleet would be painted in their 'fag packet' livery.
