First Great Western passengers sample some rare track at Circourt Bridge, Denchworth on 4 July 2011. 43042 runs along the up relief line with late running 1L48 09:28 Swansea to Paddington service. Something was obviously amiss, as once the train had joined the relief line at Challow, it stopped at the first signal (in the far distance of this view), before moving off after a long wait. Another FGW train overtook it during this period. Passengers trains do not normally use this line and indeed at least two railtours to my knowledge have requested these loops as part of their itinerary, even though they are only a few feet to one side of the normal line. That's track bashing for you! |
