With Charlbury church visible on the extreme right, 43062 John Armitt passes Cornbury Park at full line speed with the 1Z15 09:00 Derby RTC to Derby RTC (via Oxford) Network Rail New Measurement Train on 15 January 2009. 43014 is on the rear of the train. As Charlbury station is just around the corner behind the bushes and all passenger trains call at the station, normally any train photographed here is moving fairly slowly, so to see this special traveling at close to 100 mph certainly made a change! Unfortunately the dull conditions also required a high ISO in order to achieve the necessary 1/1000 sec shutter speed. Note the piles of cable ducting in the background. These are being used to reposition the signal cables in preparation for reinstating the double track, which was removed as an economy measure in 1971.
