43067 just about manages to dodge the shadows as it approaches Wolvercote Junction on 27 June 1995 with the 1M41 17:16 Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly service. 43067 has had an interesting life both before and after this picture was taken. Initially just another East Coast power car, it was converted into a DVT in 1989 as an interim measure for use with the new Class 91 electrics and Mk 3 stock. In more recent years 43067 was acquired by Grand Central Railways, and once again found itself pounding up and down the ECML. It became one of the last power cars to retain an original Paxman Valenta engine, but in 2010 was finally fitted with a MTU unit, becoming 43467. |
