43079 leads the diverted 1A12 09:48 Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington First Great Western service past Ardley on 7 April 2013. Despite the hazy light, I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to get some pictures of HSTs working on the Chiltern Line. The scorched trackside is the result of a fire caused by 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe which passed this way with a railtour the day before. This resulted in the return leg of the journey being piloted by a Class 47, and also severe delays to Chiltern Trains services, while the fire brigade tackled the blaze. |
