43094 catches the very last rays of the setting sun near Kingston Lisle (between Didcot and Swindon) on 6 January 2009 as it works the 14:30 Paddington to Weston-super-Mare First Great Western service. After a day when the temperatures barely got above freezing, the ice remains undisturbed on this rarely visited farm track remote from any road. The converging lines of the fence posts lit up by the low sun make for an ideal photographic composition, but timing was critical, as just a few minutes later the rapidly sinking sun meant that the whole of the foreground area was in shadow. |
