43101 The Irish Mail passes Didcot North Junction on 31 July 1999 with the 1O13 11:06 Newcastle to Bournemouth Virgin CrossCountry service. This power car was immediately recognisable whilst in Richard Branson's ownership due to the extremely large painted on 'nameplate'. Note that over two years after acquiring the franchise, it is still difficult to find a complete rake of stock in the then new livery. Plenty of power cars (and Class 47s) had been repainted by this time.
