43103 John Wesley reaches the bottom of the 1 in 37 Lickey Incline on 23 September 1989 with the 06:25 Bradford Forster Square to Paignton InterCity service. This would have been an excellent spot to photograph the Class 35 Hymek Lickey bankers in the 1970s, when up to three specially modified locos (first gear locked out of use) were used to give trains a mighty push up the bank. Unfortunately I didn't take up photography until after the last of the Hymeks had been withdrawn.
