43159 arrives at Charlbury on 13 September 2018 with the 1P31 12:09 Hereford to Paddington GWR service. Although getting another picture of a HST on the Cotswold Line, before they are all replaced by Class 800 DMUs is always important, this was not my main reason for visiting this location. The first production Vivarail Class 230 DMU, destined for West Midlands Trains, was due to make an appearance. The previous day a 5Q30 13:10 Long Marston to Bletchley path appeared, and was then cancelled, to be replaced by the usual Long Marston to Moreton-in-Marsh test runs, starting with the 5Z01 09:40 Long Marston to Moreton-in-Marsh. As is usually the case, these were also cancelled. In the afternoon a 5Z30 13:10 Long Marston to Charlbury path appeared, which is what I went out for. Like most Class 230 test runs, that also failed to run, so this picture of a type of train that does actually work was taken instead! |
