43159 passes Crofton Pumping Station on 14 July 2018 with the 1A77 07:50 Plymouth to Paddington GWR service. The pumping station contains the oldest working beam engine in the world, an 1812 Boulton and Watt engine, capable of lifting approximately one ton of water with each stroke, which it empties into the Kennet & Avon Canal, seen in the foreground of this picture. |
