43163 & 43040 head west along the Great Western Mainline on 25 June 1996 en-route from Old Oak Common to St Philips Marsh, Bristol. Although never common, these back to back power car moves were more frequent in the 1980s and 1990s and certainly made an interesting picture. In contrast to normal light engine convoy workings, which I do not normally bother to photograph unless the consist is particularly interesting, I always find these 'ultra short HST' working particularly photogenic.
