A new footbridge has been provided at Woodborough, crossing the eastern end of the loop lines. 'Visit Plymouth' liveried 43163 passes underneath on 23 August 2014 with the 1A83 09:54 Penzance to Paddington First Great Western. Considering Network Rail's reluctance to provide appropriate bridges at other locations, this seems a very extravagant use of resources. The little used footpath which joins up with the road just a few yards to the left of this picture, could surely be diverted to run along the field boundary on the right, therefore eliminating the need for a bridge entirely. Look how close the bridge is to my vantage point on the nearby road bridge. Hardly much of a detour for ramblers! |
