43170 speeds past the site of Challow station on 8 December 2014 with the 1L42 07:30 Carmarthen to Paddington First Great Western service. On this occasion only about half of the booked passenger trains were running due to major signalling problems in the London area causing mass cancellations. Challow station, along with the other minor stations between Didcot and Swindon (Steventon, Wantage Road, Uffington and Shrivenham) closed to passengers almost exactly fifty years earlier, on 7 December 1964.
