The site of Coates station (near Kemble) made an excellent location for photography in the 1980s, as vegetation had yet to start colonising the old station site (it is not that bad even now). 43170 passes by on 16 August 1987 with the 1B34 14:50 Paddington to Cheltenham service. And yes, that is my car in the background. A 1978 Mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier, which was pretty basic motoring. Also, 24 mpg is not very good for a 1.6 litre engine!
