47117 Sparrowhawk darkens the sky with its exhaust, as it passes Winwick on 12 March 1990 with a southbound train of long welded rails. The loco had received the unofficial Sparrowhawk painted name at Tinsley four months earlier, although ironically it was then almost immediately allocated to Bescot. Directly above the loco is the Ruston Diesels factory, formerly the Vulcan Works of English Electric Ltd.
