47123 passes Hungerford Common on 3 September 1984 with the 1C54 14:45 Paddington to Plymouth service. This would normally have been a HST, but I am sure any enthusiasts on board would have been more than happy with a 47/0 hauling a rake of first class Mk1s! I was obviously taken by surprise, and managed to lose the back of the train. I think I was walking along the fence, looking for a gap between the bushes, when it suddenly appeared. I was therefore in a less than ideal location.
