In the last of the low evening sunshine, 47500 Great Western rounds the curve at Churchill Heath on 9 April 1986 with the 1B46 17:05 Paddington to Hereford service. This is one of my favourite Cotswold Line pictures, not only because of the superb lighting and the presence of a GW150 green Class 47 on the train, but also because it is in one of the few locations that never seemed to be used by any other photographer. Unfortunately, for reasons which I can no longer remember, I did not take this picture using my Pentax 6x7, so the rather the poor technical quality is due to the use of a 35mm Fujichrome 100 slide, which in 1986 was no match for Kodachrome 64, and certainly not up to the quality of later Fuji slide films. |
