Overrunning engineering work on the Cotswold Line on Sunday 22 May 1988 resulted in 47525 with the 1B31 13:45 Paddington to Hereford service running wrong line between Ascott-under-Wychwood and Moreton-in-Marsh. It is pictured here confusing prospective passengers at Kingham. These Sunday trains were always worth photographing during the late 1980s, as they inevitably featured InterCity liveried Class 47s hauled Network SouthEast stock. Kingham is pictured here before the car park was tidied up and increased in size, work which removed the remnants of the bay platform visible in the foreground. Note also the pre-war jointed bullhead track. |
