Complete with seasonal headboard, 47525 passes underneath the A38 dual carriageway at Lower Kilburn on a misty 2 December 1995 with the Hertfordshire Railtours 1Z54 07:50 St Pancras to Hammersmith (Midland Railway Centre) 'Butter Mountain' railtour. This location was near the northern end of what was then the freight only Denby Branch, part of the former Midland Railway Derby to Ripley line. Passenger services were withdrawn as early as 1930, but the line lived on to serve Denby Colliery until 1999. The track was lifted in 2011. |
