47525 Old Basford 2 December 1995

Sporting a slightly early 'Merry Christmas' headboard, 47525 passes Lincoln Street level crossing signal box, Old Basford, on 2 December 1995 with the Hertfordshire Railtours 1Z54 07:50 St Pancras to Hammersmith (Midland Railway Centre) 'Butter Mountain' railtour. Although taken on a miserably dull day, with the early morning fog only slightly dispersed, this picture is full of interest, as the scene has now changed completely. The signal box has been demolished, and the level crossing is now a major piece of infrastructure, as it also includes the new Nottingham tram line to Hucknall, which now parallels the line on the left. The David Lane tram stop is now situated where the bushes are on the left.
