47549 heads up the Cherwell Valley near Somerton on 22 October 1985 with the 1S39 07:34 Poole to Glasgow and Edinburgh service. 47549's minor claim to fame is that it was one of the three Class 47s that were stranded on Anglesey in 1970, after fire seriously damaged the Britannia Bridge. It was numbered D1724 at the time. The other two locos were D1851 & D1940. |
