47549 passes South Moreton (Didcot East) on 13 October 1985 with the 1M03 11:59 Portsmouth Harbour to Manchester Piccadilly service. The former wartime marshalling yard behind the train had been lifted in the late 1960s, and would become increasingly overgrown until the site was requisitioned for use as an engineering depot for the electrification of the route in 2011.
