With the houses of Chilson visible in the background, 47553 approaches Ascott-under-Wychwood on 21 June 1984 with the 1C56 17:05 Paddington to Hereford service. With the exception of the timeless Cotswold landscape, everything in this picture is now history. The sadly missed Rail Blue era of loco hauled trains on the Cotswold Line is long gone, and 47553 has been cut up. On a positive note, the single line of vintage bullhead track has been replaced by double track - a reversal of the 1971 economies on the route. |
