47589 Ascott-under-Wychwood 17 September 1983

47589 approaches Ascott-under-Wychwood on 17 September 1983 with the 1C56 17:07 Paddington to Hereford service. I deliberately took this a little early, in order to include two pieces of vintage railway infrastructure which have now long since vanished from this location. The sleeper built platelayers hut was once a common feature on the network, but by the 1980s were already out of use. Out of use also (but still in place) was Ascott-under-Wychwood's siding, the buffer stop of which can be seen on the right.
