A deliberately wide view of construction works for the new Banbury bypass (later named Hennef Way), taken from the Old Grimsbury bridge on 24 April 1984. 47602 heads north with the 1M03 08:05 Portsmouth Harbour to Manchester Piccadilly service. Note the tiny site office on the right, a lot more minimalist than the row of Portakabins that would be used nowadays. The classic ARC Bucyrus-Erie 22B crane seems to be the only substantial piece of plant on the site. |
