47606 Odin makes a characteristic smoky Sulzer departure from Kingham station on 17 May 1985 with the 1B56 18:07 Paddington to Hereford 'Cathedrals Express'. Although unfortunately the impressive Great Western Railway brick built station building had been demolished in the early 1970s, Kingham station still retained some period features in the 1980s. Both lines are still 95lb per yard bullhead track, and the loading dock on the right has yet to be swallowed up by the later car park extension. In fact, in 1985 the passenger traffic was still so low that the small car park was hardly ever full. |
