47638 County of Kent just manages to avoid the worst of the afternoon shadows, as it traverses the reverse curves near Tackley on 23 April 1988 with the 1O90 10:50 Glasgow Central to Eastbourne service. This location used to be more popular with photographers in the 1960s than it is now, partly because of the gradient, which made steam locos heading in the opposite direction work hard, but also because there wasn't so many lineside bushes to get in the way of the picture!
