There is certainly no mistaking that this is a Scottish locomotive! With a large West Highland Terrier motif and snowploughs, Eastfield allocated 47644 The Permanent Way Institution races through Berkswell station on 28 September 1986 with the 1O34 07:30 Manchester Piccadilly to Portsmouth Harbour service. This is not one of these locos that spent most of their career north of the border, as originally it was a Western Region machine, only moving to Scotland a few months before this picture was taken. They soon got to work making it look Scottish! Ironically, it was back on the Western after only a few years. |
