A slightly different perspective at Aynho Junction on 11 March 1989. The junction's semaphore signals used to be situated next to the bridge, and it was just possible to include them in the photo by using a wide angle lens. For some reason I only took one picture in this way, and as the signals have since been removed, there is no chance to repeat the exercise. 47653 approaches with the 1O99 06:47 Crewe to Folkestone. This used to be the boundary between the Western and London Midland regions, hence the mixture of upper and lower quadrant signals. The down direction lower quadrant (near the loco) always seemed to have an excessive droop. |
