47786 Roy Castle OBE passes Gaer Junction, Newport, on 11 September 1997 with the 6Z80 11:00 Newport Alexandra Dock Junction to Hereford logs, destined for the sawmill at Pontrilas. The timber, which originated in Scotland, would have passed through Hereford the previous day on a trunk 'Enterprise' service. 37197 can be seen in the background with a snort train of new concrete sleepers. The diverging line climbing away towards Gaer Tunnel in the background heads towards Ebbw Vale, and forms a triangle with the line between Park Junction and Ebbw Junction. |
