47835 Bathampton 5 April 1990

47835 Windsor Castle heads west past Bathampton on 5 April 1990 with the Royal Train. Unfortunately, this corresponded with a small cloud drifting across the sun, which annoyingly followed the train along the line as it came into view. It was also the only cloud of the entire day! This really is the Royal Train, unlike a lot of the footage shown in Channel Five's 'Secrets of the Royal Train', which was padded out with endless repeated shots of all kinds of trains. Bizarrely, they also referred to the Royal Train as Britain's 'Most luxurious locomotive', which is odd when they often refer to LNER A3 steam locomotive 4472 Flying Scotsman as a train!
