47848 leaves Gloucester on 27 April 1993 with the 1V54 11:05 York to Swansea service. The train had arrived ten minutes earlier, and the loco had then run round the train in Gloucester station. This view, from the then newly opened Metz Way, is full of interest. Horton Road level crossing is in the centre of the picture, with the remains of Gloucester Horton Road Depot behind. A tamper, Class 08, 37, 60 and a pair of 31s are in residence. Both Gloucester Cathedral and St Peter's Catholic church in the background are encased in scaffolding, whilst undergoing repairs. |
