50001 Dreadnought passes Combe on 2 October 1988 with the 1B31 13:45 Paddington to Hereford service. Only the rear coach spoils an otherwise completely uniform rake of Network SouthEast Mk.2s, the loco also being in matching NSE livery (the second version but before a darker a shade of blue was used). Ironically two years previously I had photographed the same locomotive in a very similar spot, but coming from the opposite direction.
