50001 Dreadnought passes Deepcut on 28 August 1987 with the 1O15 09:38 Exeter St Davids to Waterloo Network SouthEast service. Probably because the class was so common in the Oxford area, this is one of the few occasions that I spent a day photographing 50s on the former Southern Railway route to the west, before the frantic activity of their last days in 1991. Dreadnought's large logo livery is getting a little tatty, and it wouldn't be long before it would be repainted into NSE red, white & blue. It would skip the first two versions of this livery and emerge in the final form. |
