50001 Dreadnought has just arrived at platform 2 at Oxford station on the evening of 30 January 1985 with the 1F38 17:30 service from Paddington. Whereas most Class 50 hauled trains did the run from London to Oxford in about an hour, because this one stopped at all stations between Reading and Didcot, it took nearly twice that! Dreadnought would shortly take the train the short distance to the carriage sidings, where it would wait for several more hours, before bringing the stock back to the station for the 1F51 23:05 departure for Paddington. |
