50002 Superb passes through Heyford station on 14 September 1985 with the 1O15 09:00 Manchester Piccadilly to Weymouth service, which it had taken over at Birmingham New Street. Laira didn't like to let its locos spend too long off region, and it had only worked up to the West Midlands a little earlier that morning with the 1E54 06:50 Paddington to Hull. Note the raised section of platform in the foreground and on the opposite platform, which was a temporary measure to combat the large gap resulting from the cant of the track. The corner of the station building can also just be seen. This was redundant at the time and has since been removed. |
