A very poor picture of 50007 Hercules, but included for its historically interest. Just a matter of days before it was called to Doncaster Works for refurbishment (and not a moment too soon judging by the deplorable state of the bodywork), Hercules pulls into platform 1 at Oxford station with the ECS for the 08:10 departure for Paddington on 4 September 1982. Despite the fact that there was only a few minutes to wait until departure time, the driver shut down the engine once he had reached the end of the platform. Perhaps the loco was in such poor condition that it wasn't the driver who shut it down!
