50007 Oxford 2 April 1983

A busy moment at Oxford on 2 April 1983. 50007 Hercules departs with the 1V68 08:20 Liverpool Lime Street to Paddington service, which it had worked from Birmingham New Street. 47559 has just arrived at platform 2 with the 1M50 09:00 Brighton to Manchester Piccadilly, whilst an unidentified Class 121 'bubble car' waits in the down carriage siding with its trailer 54281 (L281). This is the only picture I have of 50007 in large logo livery. It is still looking reasonably clean here, having only been released from Doncaster Works a few weeks previously. This colour scheme was relatively short lived on this loco, as the following year it received a repaint into green, and lost its Hercules name in favour of Sir Edward Elgar.
