A far cry from its glory days as a passenger loco or its present day role as a preserved loco, 50007 Sir Edward Elgar ambles down the relief line at Pilning on 13 March 1989 with a train of track panels destined for South Wales. It is about to be overtaken by an HST before resuming its journey through the Severn Tunnel. 50007 was only allocated to the DCWA engineers pool for a short while (8 October 1988 to 14 May 1989), so pictures of it on such mundane duties such as this are not common. This is the only picture I have of it on anything other than a passenger train while in BR service. |
