50008 Thunderer passes Fritwell on 28 March 2022 with the 5Z43 10:58 Loughborough Brush to Princes Risborough, conveying DATS HST power cars 43054 & 43066, with Mk3 test coach 40728 sandwiched in between. These were en-route to the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway, for use in the following weekend's Diesel Gala. I particularly wanted a picture of this on the Chiltern Line, as virtually nothing other than DMUs, and the Class 68 hauled passenger trains use this route. With an unexpectedly sunny afternoon, what could possibly go wrong? All was going well until the train sat at Banbury for ages. It finally got going, and passed here running 72 minutes late, which meant that the sun was now only just glancing across the front.
