Viewed from the other side of the valley, 50031 Hood passes Brithdir with the 1Z10 09:55 Rhymney to Treherbert service on Sunday 9 August 1998. Cardiff Railways ran these additional services on three weekends to tap into the heritage traction enthusiast market. Numerous vantage points were available along the valley, but I chose this spot to place the train directly below this distinctive group of houses, with a telephoto lens used to bring up the mountain in the background.
