One of my least visited Cotswold Line locations, at least on the otherwise heavily photographed Wolvercote Junction to Moreton-in-Marsh section. 50031 Hood passes Evenlode on 24 April 1988 as it heads up the valley of that name with the 1B33 14:00 Paddington to Hereford service. Not only was this the first down train of the day on a Sunday, but one that could be relied upon to be formed of a complete rake of Network SouthEast stock. Already one of my most photographed Class 50s in 1988, 50031 would go on to become the most ubiquitous machine encountered on the Waterloo to Exeter line during my frantic coverage of the route in 1991. Then of course being a mainline registered preserved example, it would later get photographed even more! |
