50031 Hood just manages to find a patch of sunshine, as it passes Grateley on 20 April 1991 with the 1V09 09:15 Waterloo to Exeter Network SouthEast service. This was running over an hour late, and presumably because of that I was expecting something more unusual, as I distinctly remember being very unimpressed when Hood turned up. Very difficult to believe now, but I had got thoroughly fed up with seeing it all the time on my visits to the West of England line!
