50031 leaves the Severn Valley Railway's Kidderminster station in the rain on 20 August 2016 with the 09:45 service to Bridgnorth. This was the loco's first public passenger working since being painted into InterCity livery. No Class 50 ever carried this colour scheme in BR service, although had things worked out slightly differently, they almost certainly would have. Just before this livery became widespread, InterCity ceased using Class 50s, with the fleet instead ending up with Network SouthEast. The loco is nameless, pending its rededication as Hood at a special event on 17 September 2016, marking the 100th anniversary of the building, and the 75th anniversary of the sinking of the battlecruiser HMS Hood. |
