50031 Rangeworthy 4 September 1986

50031 Hood passes Rangeworthy on 4 September 1986 with the 1S59 07:25 Taunton to Inverness InterCity service, which it would work as far as Birmingham New Street. Had the Class 50s continued to be used on such trains, instead of being principally allocated to Network SouthEast, they would presumably have been painted into the then new InterCity livery. As it happens, 50031 never even got to wear Network SouthEast colours, instead retaining its increasingly tatty large logo livery until it became unusual enough to justify a complete repaint into the same colour scheme.
