The very last of the evening light on 7 September 1988 nicely illuminates 50031 Hood, as it passes Wolvercote with the 1F44 17:22 Paddington to Banbury Network SouthEast service. Although most of the train is in NSE's new colours, all that Hood has to identify its ownership is a discreet red, blue and grey flash on the former headcode box. In fact the loco would successfully resist any livery change, and would even get a complete large logo repaint a few years later.
