50031 Hood accelerates away from Ystrad Rhondda station with the 1Z11 12:33 Treherbert to Merthyr Tydfil (via Cardiff Central) railtour on 9 August 1998. This was a railtour with a difference, as instead of a long ambitious route with multiple locos, the Cardiff Railway Company hit on the simple formulae of using classic traction for three trains up the Welsh Valleys using this four coach rake. The other two workings were the 1Z10 09:35 Rhymney to Treherbert and the 1Z12 14:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Rhymney.
