50032 Courageous rounds the curve at Wolfhall on 2 July 1985 with the 13:40 Paddington to Penzance service. Note the embankment of the former Midland & South Western Junction Railway (closed inn 1961) which crossed over the Great Western main line at this point. There was formerly a pair of junctions here, allowing traffic to head south over the MSWJR from either direction off the GWR line, a facility that was used extensively during the Second World War. |
