In superb late afternoon lighting, 50034 Furious speeds underneath the road bridge at Evenlode with the 16:10 Paddington to Hereford Network SouthEast service on 5 April 1987. 50034 was an early recipient of the original Network SouthEast livery, but this was my first sighting of it in its new colour scheme. It retained this livery until the autumn of 1989 when inevitably it was repainted into the somewhat less flamboyant revised NSE colours. Evenlode was one of my favourite Cotswold Line locations in the1980s, with good views from the bridge and the nearby fields. Unfortunately most of these viewpoints have now been lost due to uncontrolled tree growth. |
