50036 Victorious accelerates away from Oxford station on 16 May 1990 with the 1F83 18:00 Network SouthEast service to Paddington. This is just a few days before the loco was transferred to the DCWA engineers fleet, although it was still working Thames Valley services right up to the official transfer date (27 May). There was obviously a slightly more relaxed attitude to health & safety in 1990, as the loco's headlight is not working, a fault which would result in the loco's (or at least the bulb's) replacement nowadays. However, any track workers will have had plenty of warning of this train's approach, as a Class 50 at full chat makes a lot of noise! |
